Govt. College Safidon, ensconced between the Jind Road (State Highway 14) in the South and the Western Yamuna Canal in the North, was established in July 1976 as a private institute, Adarsh College, Safidon, functioning under the dynamic leadership and visionary guidance of the socially committed elderly learned people of this pauranic and progressive city, Sarpadaman Nagar. The institute came into existence because of the dire need of education for the young generation from the city and its surrounding rural background. The Adarsh College Managing Committee handed it over to the State Government in Jan. 1980. It was started in Arts stream with meagre strength of 150 students, which has swelled now into more than 1700, and all the three streams such as Science, Commerce, and Arts, and in addition three Post Graduate Courses in English , Hindi and Commerce
